והוה כד יתיב מלכא בביתיה ואמר דוד לנתן נביא הא אנא יתיב בביתא דמטלל בכיורי ארזיא וארונא קימא דיי שרי במשכנא בגו יריעתא:
yryetha bgw bmshkna shry dyy qyma warwna arzya bkywry dmTll bbytha ythyb ana ha nbya lnthn dwd wamr bbythyh mlka ythyb kd whwh
When David was living in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I live in a cedar house, but the ark of Yahweh’s covenant is in a tent.”

ואמר נתן לדוד כל דבלבך עבד ארום מימרא דיי בסעדך:
bsedk dyy mymra arwm ebd dblbk kl ldwd nthn wamr
Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart; for God is with you.”

והוה בליליא ההוא והוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם נתן למימר:
lmymr nthn em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm whwh hhwa blylya whwh
That same night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

אזיל ותימר לות דוד עבדי כדנן אמר יי לא תבנה קדמי ביתא לאשראה שכנתי ביה:
byh shknthy lashrah bytha qdmy thbnh la yy amr kdnn ebdy dwd lwth wthymr azyl
“Go and tell David my servant, ‘Yahweh says, “You shall not build me a house to dwell in;

ארום לא אשריתי שכנתי בביתא למן יומא דאסקית עמי ית ישראל ממצרים עד יומא הדין והויתי משרי שכנתי ממשכן זמנא לנוב ומנוב לשילה ומשילה למשכן גבעון:
gbewn lmshkn wmshylh lshylh wmnwb lnwb zmna mmshkn shknthy mshry whwythy hdyn ywma ed mmtsrym yshral yth emy dasqyth ywma lmn bbytha shknthy ashrythy la arwm
for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another.

בכל אתר דאשריתי שכנתי בכל מה דמהלכא שכנתי בבני ישראל האפשר דמללא מלילית עם חד מן נגודיא דישראל די פקדית לפרנסא ית עמי למימר למה לא בניתון קדמי ביתא דמטלל בכיורי ארזיא:
arzya bkywry dmTll bytha qdmy bnythwn la lmh lmymr emy yth lprnsa pqdyth dy dyshral ngwdya mn khd em mlylyth dmlla hapshr yshral bbny shknthy dmhlka mh bkl shknthy dashrythy athr bkl
In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’

וכדון כדנן תימר לעבדי לדוד כדנן אמר יי צבאות אנא דברתך מן דירא מן בתר ענא למהוי מלכא על עמי ישראל:
yshral emy el mlka lmhwy ena bthr mn dyra mn dbrthk ana tsbawth yy amr kdnn ldwd lebdy thymr kdnn wkdwn
“Now therefore, you shall tell my servant David, ‘Yahweh of Armies says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel.

והוה מימרי בסעדך בכל אתר דהליכתא ושיציתי ית כל בעלי דבבך מן קדמך ועבדית לך שום טב כשום אבהת עלמא רברביא דהוון בארעא:
barea dhwwn rbrbya elma abhth kshwm Tb shwm lk webdyth qdmk mn dbbk bely kl yth wshytsythy dhlyktha athr bkl bsedk mymry whwh
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

ואשוי אתר מתקן לעמי ואקימנון וישרון באתריהון ולא יזועון תוב ולא יוספון בני רשעא למלעי יתהון כמא דסגפנון בקדמיתא:
bqdmytha dsgpnwn kma ythhwn lmley rshea bny ywspwn wla thwb yzwewn wla bathryhwn wyshrwn waqymnwn lemy mthqn athr washwy
I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more. The children of wickedness will not waste them any more, as at the first,

ולמן יומא די פקידית נגודיא על עמי ישראל ותברית ית כל בעלי דבבך וחויתי לך ארום מלכו יקים לך יי:
yy lk yqym mlkw arwm lk wkhwythy dbbk bely kl yth wthbryth yshral emy el ngwdya pqydyth dy ywma wlmn
and from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Yahweh will build you a house.

ויהי ארום ישלמון יומיך למיהך עם אבהתך ואקים ית בנך בתרך בר דתוליד ואתקין ית מלכותיה:
mlkwthyh yth wathqyn dthwlyd br bthrk bnk yth waqym abhthk em lmyhk ywmyk yshlmwn arwm wyhy
It will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your offspring after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

הוא יבנה לי בית מקדשא לשמי ואתקין ית כורסי מלכותיה עד עלמא:
elma ed mlkwthyh kwrsy yth wathqyn lshmy mqdsha byth ly ybnh hwa
He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.

אנא אחבב יתיה כאבא לבריה והוא יהא חביב קדמי כברא לאבא וטובי לא אעדי מניה היכמא דעדיתי מן שאול דהוה מליך מקדמך:
mqdmk mlyk dhwh shawl mn dedythy hykma mnyh aedy la wTwby laba kbra qdmy khbyb yha whwa lbryh kaba ythyh akhbb ana
I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him who was before you;

ואקימניה מהימן בעמי בבית מקדשי ובמלכותי עד עלמא וכורסי מלכותיה יהא מתקן עד עלמא:
elma ed mthqn yha mlkwthyh wkwrsy elma ed wbmlkwthy mqdshy bbyth bemy mhymn waqymnyh
but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne will be established forever.”’”

הי ככל פתגמיא האלין והי ככל נבואתא הדא מלל נתן עם דוד:
dwd em nthn mll hda nbwatha kkl why halyn pthgmya kkl hy
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

ואתא דוד ואשתהי בצלותא קדם יי ואמר לית אנא כמיסת יי אלהים ומן ביתי ארום אמטיתני עד הלכא למחסן מלכותא:
mlkwtha lmkhsn hlka ed amTythny arwm bythy wmn alhym yy kmysth ana lyth wamr yy qdm btslwtha washthhy dwd watha
Then David the king went in and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Yahweh God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?

והות קלילא דא קדמך יי אלהים ומללתא על בית עבדך לעלמא דאתי ואחזיתני למיקם בסדר גבריא יי אלהים:
alhym yy gbrya bsdr lmyqm wakhzythny dathy lelma ebdk byth el wmlltha alhym yy qdmk da qlyla whwth
This was a small thing in your eyes, O God, but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have respected me according to the standard of a man of high degree, Yahweh God.

מה יוסיף תוב דוד למללא קדמך ואת עבדתא בעותא דעבדך ליקרא יתיה ואנת ית עבדך ידעתא:
ydetha ebdk yth wanth ythyh lyqra debdk bewtha ebdtha wath qdmk lmlla dwd thwb ywsyp mh
What can David say yet more to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? For you know your servant.

יי בגין עבדך וברעותך עבדתא ית כל רבותא הדא להודעא ית עבדך ית כל רברבתא:
rbrbtha kl yth ebdk yth lhwdea hda rbwtha kl yth ebdtha wbrewthk ebdk bgyn yy
Yahweh, for your servant’s sake, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, to make known all these great things.
20
יי לית דכותך ולית אלהא בר מנך בכל די שמענא ואמרו קדמנא:
qdmna wamrw shmena dy bkl mnk br alha wlyth dkwthk lyth yy
Yahweh, there is no one like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21
ומן כות עמך ישראל עמא יחידאי ובחיר בארעא דאתגלי מלאך שליח מן קדם יי למפרק ליה עם ולשואה ליה שום ולמעבד להון רברבן וחסינן לתרכא מן קדם עמך דפרקתא ממצרים עממיא:
emmya mmtsrym dprqtha emk qdm mn lthrka wkhsynn rbrbn lhwn wlmebd shwm lyh wlshwah em lyh lmprq yy qdm mn shlykh mlak dathgly barea wbkhyr ykhyday ema yshral emk kwth wmn
What one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before your people whom you redeemed out of Egypt?

ואתקנתא ית עמך ישראל לך לעם עד עלמא ואת הויתא להון לאלהא:
lalha lhwn hwytha wath elma ed lem lk yshral emk yth wathqntha
For you made your people Israel your own people forever; and you, Yahweh, became their God.
23
וכדון יי פתגמא די מללתא על עבדך ועל ביתיה יהא מהימן עד עלמא ועביד היכלא די מלילתא:
mlyltha dy hykla webyd elma ed mhymn yha bythyh wel ebdk el mlltha dy pthgma yy wkdwn
Now, Yahweh, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as you have spoken.

ויהא מהימן ויתרבי שמך עד עלמא יי מרי חילותא יי אלהא דישראל הוא אלהא לישראל ובית דוד עבדך יהא מתקן קדמך:
qdmk mthqn yha ebdk dwd wbyth lyshral alha hwa dyshral alha yy khylwtha mry yy elma ed shmk wythrby mhymn wyha
Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel. The house of David your servant is established before you.’

ארום את יי חויתא לעבדך למימר מלכו אקים לך בגין כן אשכח עבדך פתחא דפומא לצלאה קדמך:
qdmk ltslah dpwma pthkha ebdk ashkkh kn bgyn lk aqym mlkw lmymr lebdk khwytha yy ath arwm
For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you.

וכדון יי את הוא אלהא דמללתא על עבדך ית טבתא הדא:
hda Tbtha yth ebdk el dmlltha alha hwa ath yy wkdwn
Now, Yahweh, you are God, and have promised this good thing to your servant.
27
וכדון שריתא לברכא ית בית עבדך למהוי קים לעלמא קדמך ארום את יי ברכתא ומברך יהי לעלמא:
lelma yhy wmbrk brktha yy ath arwm qdmk lelma qym lmhwy ebdk byth yth lbrka shrytha wkdwn
Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Yahweh, have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”
